Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) has announced that the highly anticipated YU7 SUV will be launched at the end of June, along with the second tablet featuring Xiaomi’s Xring O1 chip. This launch event is expected to showcase several major new products, making it a significant event in the electric vehicle (EV) market in China.

The founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, revealed the updated launch date for the YU7 on Weibo. The announcement comes after the SUV made its debut on May 22, with Lei initially stating that the official launch would take place in July. However, the launch date has been moved up to the end of June, signaling Xiaomi’s commitment to bringing the YU7 to market sooner than anticipated.

The YU7 has already generated significant interest, with display models becoming available in Beijing on May 29 and subsequently rolling out to 317 Xiaomi EV stores across 86 cities by June 13. The SUV has received positive feedback during its pre-release phase, outperforming the SU7 sedan in terms of pre-order inquiries and user deposits.

Xiaomi has not disclosed the official pricing for the YU7 yet, with Lei indicating that it will be finalized just 1-2 days before the launch. Contrary to rumors suggesting a starting price of RMB 235,900, Lei clarified that the YU7 will not be priced significantly higher than the SU7 electric sedan, which starts at RMB 215,900.

The success of the SU7 series, including the standard SU7 and SU7 Ultra, has laid a strong foundation for Xiaomi in the EV market. The company has been delivering over 20,000 units monthly for eight consecutive months, demonstrating the growing demand for its electric vehicles.

Looking ahead, Xiaomi is optimistic about the future of its EV business, with Lei stating that profitability is expected in the second half of 2025. The YU7 is poised to attract a wider audience and build on the momentum generated by the SU7 series, further solidifying Xiaomi’s position in the competitive EV market.

As Xiaomi gears up for the launch of the YU7 and other new products, the company continues to innovate and expand its presence in the EV sector. With a commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable electric vehicles, Xiaomi is set to make a significant impact in the evolving automotive landscape.
