Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra Sets Sales Record, Deliveries to Begin in March
Xiaomi’s highly anticipated SU7 Ultra ultra-performance electric sedan has shattered records by reaching its full-year sales target within just 2 hours of being released for sale. The company’s car-making division, Xiaomi EV, took to Weibo to announce the milestone, revealing that over 10,000 units had been ordered in the first 2 hours of availability.
The SU7 Ultra, a high-performance electric sedan boasting an impressive 1,548 Ps of maximum horsepower, was officially unveiled at a recent event where Xiaomi set its sights on challenging luxury car giant Porsche in the premium vehicle segment. With the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 1.98 seconds and from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour in 6.09 seconds, Xiaomi claims that the SU7 Ultra is the fastest four-door production car on the market.
Priced at RMB 529,900 ($72,730), the SU7 Ultra represents a significant discount compared to Xiaomi’s previously advertised pre-sales price of RMB 814,900, making it an attractive option for luxury car enthusiasts. This price drop is particularly noteworthy as it brings the cost of the SU7 Ultra below that of the standard SU7 model, which debuted with a starting price of RMB 215,900 in March 2024.
Customers eager to secure their own SU7 Ultra were able to place orders with a deposit of RMB 20,000 starting at 10 pm Beijing time. Xiaomi also offered a 7-day hesitation period during which customers could request a refund if needed. Additionally, a limited number of SU7 Ultra vehicles were already produced, allowing interested buyers to expedite their delivery by placing a non-refundable deposit of RMB 40,000.
The overwhelming demand for the SU7 Ultra was evident just 16 minutes after orders opened, with Xiaomi EV reporting over 6,900 orders in the first 10 minutes alone. The company anticipates that the first deliveries of the SU7 Ultra will commence in March, according to information provided on Xiaomi EV’s mobile app.
Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun expressed confidence in the SU7 Ultra’s sales potential, setting a target of 10,000 units for 2025. This goal aligns with Xiaomi’s broader target of selling 300,000 electric vehicles throughout the year. Building on the success of the regular SU7, which delivered over 135,000 units in 2024, Xiaomi is poised to continue its momentum in the electric vehicle market.
In addition to the SU7 and SU7 Ultra models, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the YU7 electric SUV in the coming months, further expanding its range of electric vehicles. With the SU7 Ultra making waves in the luxury car segment and setting new sales records, Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle market is off to a strong start, positioning the company as a formidable player in the industry.
