Xiaomi YU7 spied in the wild without camouflage

Xiaomi YU7 SUV Spotted Testing Without Camouflage

The Xiaomi YU7 SUV has been spotted testing without any camouflage, giving us a first look at the vehicle from the side. According to Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, the car should be called Y-U-7.

The electric vehicle features a very long front end, with the cabin situated far back from the front wheels. While there are some similarities to the Ferrari Purosangue, it is not as pronounced as initially thought. The design also bears a resemblance to an SUV version of the Xiaomi SU7.

With dimensions measuring 4999mm in length, 1996mm in width, and 1600mm in height, the YU7 is a relatively large vehicle with a wheelbase of 3000mm. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology listings have only mentioned a dual-motor configuration weighing 2405kg.

Powering the YU7 is a front-mounted 220kW motor and a rear 288kW motor, delivering a total power output of 508kW (681hp). This setup enables the YU7 to reach a top speed of 253 km/h. There may also be a single-motor version available to offer a more affordable starting price.

The dual-motor version will be equipped with an NMC battery from CATL. It is speculated that the base model of the YU7 may feature a cheaper lithium iron phosphate blade battery from BYD to cater to budget-conscious buyers.

Initially, sales of the YU7 were expected to commence around March, but due to capacity constraints with Xiaomi’s factory’s second phase completion later in the year, sales are now slated for 2025. This delay will allow Xiaomi sufficient time to finalize the factory setup.

By announcing the car early, Xiaomi can now conduct thorough testing without attracting too much attention from spy photographers. The YU7 is shaping up to be a promising addition to Xiaomi’s electric vehicle lineup.

In conclusion, the Xiaomi YU7 SUV is set to make a mark in the electric vehicle market with its impressive performance and design. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new release.
