Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has officially introduced its latest electric SUV, the G7, which showcases the company’s in-house autonomous driving chips in mass-produced vehicles. This new model comes with a price tag of RMB 235,800 ($32,780) and falls within the pricing range between the G6 SUV and the flagship G9 SUV.

The G7 is a mid-size SUV with dimensions measuring 4,892 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, boasting a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. Available in Max and Ultra variants, both models are built on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture and feature a battery pack that supports 5C fast charging, offering an impressive CLTC range of 702 kilometers.

One of the standout features of the G7 is the integration of Xpeng’s own Turing AI chip, with the Ultra variant equipped with three of these chips, delivering a computing power exceeding 2,200 TOPS. This makes the G7 the world’s first AI vehicle to achieve L3 computing power, setting a new standard in the industry.

The Turing AI chips power both the smart driving and cockpit models, providing AI computing power that is 26 times greater than other flagship models. This results in a seamless driving experience and instant responses in the cockpit, thanks to the advanced technology integrated into the G7.

Additionally, the G7 is the first model to feature Xpeng’s VLM (Vision-Language Models) visual large model, serving as the AI brain of the vehicle to enhance assisted driving and intelligent cockpit capabilities. This innovation further solidifies Xpeng’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and advancements in the EV market.

Furthermore, the G7 also boasts a HUD (head-up display) system developed in collaboration with Huawei, projecting an 87-inch display area onto the windshield to provide essential information such as driving assistance, speed, and road conditions. This partnership highlights Xpeng’s dedication to creating a futuristic driving experience for its customers.

With the launch of the G7, Xpeng aims to continue its success in the EV market and increase its sales volume. The company’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, has expressed confidence in doubling their sales in 2025, following a successful year of delivering 190,068 vehicles in 2024.

As Xpeng continues to innovate and expand its product lineup, the G7 stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to excellence in electric vehicles. With the upcoming launch of the new P7 electric sedan in the third quarter, Xpeng is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive EV market in China and beyond.
