Xpeng and Huawei Collaborate on New Model Featuring HUD Technology

Xpeng, a prominent electric vehicle (EV) maker, has teased a new model that will incorporate Huawei’s innovative head-up display (HUD) solution. This unexpected collaboration between the two companies marks a significant development in the automotive industry.

The partnership was hinted at in a recent Weibo post by Xpeng, showcasing a poster that highlighted the integration of Huawei’s HUD technology in one of its upcoming models. The HUD system allows essential information such as range, driving assistance status, speed, and navigation details to be displayed on the vehicle’s front windshield.

In a bold statement on Weibo, Xpeng expressed its commitment to driving industry innovation, hinting at a launch event scheduled for June 5 at 2:30 pm Beijing time. While specific details about the new model were not disclosed, the teaser generated excitement among automotive enthusiasts.

The collaboration between Xpeng and Huawei comes as a surprise, given their previous disagreements in the smart driving sector. In the past, Huawei’s executive director, Richard Yu, and Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, engaged in public discussions about autonomous emergency braking (AEB) technology, sparking controversy.

Despite their differences, Mr. He recently shared a photo on Weibo with Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei, emphasizing the value of learning and exchanging ideas with industry leaders. Huawei’s foray into the EV sector has been characterized by partnerships with major automotive companies, focusing on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and display technologies.

Huawei’s expertise in software solutions, LiDAR technology, and display systems complements Xpeng’s commitment to innovation in the EV market. The collaboration between these two industry giants is poised to deliver cutting-edge features and enhance the driving experience for consumers.
