Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has officially unveiled its latest electric sedan, the P7+, with a starting price that is significantly lower than its pre-sale price, aiming to replicate the success of the Mona M03. The launch event took place in Guangzhou, where the company is headquartered, and the P7+ is priced at RMB 186,800 ($26,100), which is RMB 23,000 (11 percent) lower than the pre-sale price of RMB 209,800.

The response to the P7+ has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 10,000 firm orders placed within the first 12 minutes of the launch event. Xpeng is offering two regular variants of the P7+ with starting prices of RMB 186,800 and RMB 198,800, as well as a limited edition with a starting price of RMB 218,800 and only 500 units available.

The P7+ is a mid to large-size electric sedan with dimensions larger than those of the Xpeng P7i sedan. It is powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries from Eve Energy, with different variants offering varying battery pack capacities and CLTC ranges. The model is capable of fast charging from 0 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.

In terms of performance, the P7+ is all single-motor rear-wheel drive, with different variants offering varying peak motor power and torque. The model comes with Xpeng’s most powerful driver assistance system as standard, and it is the first Xpeng model to forgo LiDAR technology in favor of a vision-only solution powered by Nvidia Orin X chips.

The P7+ is designed as a globally oriented AI vehicle, leveraging AI technology in the cockpit and driver assistance systems to enhance the driving experience. Xpeng emphasizes that the model’s smart driving system is built on end-to-end AI technology, capable of frequent updates and improvements.

Production of the P7+ is taking place at Xpeng’s Guangzhou plant, separate from the Zhaoqing plant where the Mona M03 is produced. The company assures that the production capacity of the P7+ will not be affected by constraints faced by the Mona M03. Deliveries of the P7+ have already begun, and Xpeng expects the model to contribute significantly to its delivery numbers for the month.

Overall, the P7+ marks another milestone for Xpeng, following the success of the Mona M03. With its competitive pricing, advanced technology, and strong performance, the P7+ is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
