Xpeng sees P7+ deliveries accelerate as Eve Energy adds battery capacity

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) is experiencing a surge in deliveries of its latest electric sedan, the P7+, thanks to the addition of new battery cell production lines by supplier Eve Energy.

Initially, Eve Energy provided three battery cell production lines for the P7+ during its launch. However, due to the model’s sales surpassing expectations, the battery maker quickly added one additional production line just one month after the model’s debut. And according to auto blogger Zhu Yulong, Eve Energy is now planning to add two more battery cell lines for the P7+ next month to further support production and delivery of the popular model.

A recent regulatory filing revealed that Eve Energy is the exclusive battery supplier for the Xpeng P7+, highlighting the critical role the battery maker plays in ensuring the success of Xpeng’s electric vehicles. Xpeng’s Head of R&D for the P/G series models, Wu Anfei, expressed his appreciation for Eve Energy’s support, acknowledging the crucial role the battery maker plays in the production process.

Thanks to the increased production capacity from Eve Energy, the delivery wait time for the Xpeng P7+ has significantly decreased to 5-8 weeks. This reduction in wait time has allowed some customers who initially faced a delay in receiving their vehicles to now enjoy their P7+ before the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday, which falls between January 28 and February 4, 2025.

The Xpeng P7+ was launched on November 7, with prices starting at RMB 186,800 ($25,590). The model received an overwhelming response, with 31,528 orders placed within the first three hours of its official launch. Since then, Xpeng has steadily increased deliveries, surpassing 10,000 units by December 11.

In November, Xpeng achieved a milestone by delivering 30,895 vehicles, marking the third consecutive month of record-high deliveries. The company’s focus on expanding its electric vehicle lineup and increasing production capacity has helped drive its growth in the competitive EV market.

With the continuous support from suppliers like Eve Energy, Xpeng is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles and further solidify its presence in the industry. As the company continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, customers can expect even more exciting developments in the future.
