Xpeng, a leading Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, is set to unveil the 2025 X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) tomorrow, marking an update to its highest-priced model. The company announced on Weibo that the facelifted X9 will make its world debut and begin pre-sales on April 8, with an event scheduled for 2 pm Beijing time.

The X9 was originally launched on January 1, 2024, and serves as Xpeng’s flagship model under its SEPA 2.0 architecture. Priced at RMB 359,800 ($49,410) for the base model, the X9 comes in five variants, with the top-end version priced at RMB 419,800.

Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, personally owns an X9 and even delivered one to William Li, founder of Nio, in May 2024. He expressed his anticipation for the 2025 update, highlighting that the focus will be on enhancing comfort through features like zero-gravity seats, improved chassis, and a quieter ride.

The X9 had a successful year in 2024, with 21,653 units delivered, accounting for 11.39 percent of Xpeng’s total annual deliveries. This strong performance underscores the popularity of the X9 among consumers.

The 2025 X9 update is part of Xpeng’s strategy to introduce intensive product updates throughout the year. Earlier in March, the company launched facelifts for the G6 and G9 SUV models, resulting in increased demand for its entire lineup. Xpeng’s management aims to expand its product range to cover mainstream market segments ranging from RMB 100,000 to RMB 500,000 by the end of 2026.

Looking ahead, Xpeng plans to introduce several new products in the second half of the year, including battery electric vehicle (BEV) models and new offerings featuring the Kunpeng Super Hybrid system. The company has teased a new SUV model, the G7, targeting the RMB 250,000 segment.

With a strong track record of exceeding delivery expectations, Xpeng delivered 94,008 vehicles in the first quarter of 2025, surpassing its guidance range of 91,000 to 93,000 units. This consistent performance reflects Xpeng’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the competitive EV market.

Overall, the 2025 X9 update signifies Xpeng’s dedication to enhancing technology, comfort, and performance in its vehicles, ensuring that customers receive the best driving experience possible. Stay tuned for more updates on Xpeng’s latest offerings and developments in the EV industry.
