Xpeng, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently announced the launch of an 8-seat variant to its popular X9 MPV model. The company made this announcement on Weibo, stating that the new variant will be introduced tomorrow. This comes after the X9 achieved a significant milestone earlier this month, with cumulative deliveries surpassing 20,000 units.
The X9 was first launched on January 1 and has quickly become the flagship model under Xpeng’s SEPA 2.0 architecture. This multi-purpose vehicle is currently available in a seven-seat version, starting at RMB 359,800 ($49,680), making it Xpeng’s highest-priced model to date. Deliveries of the X9 began on January 16, and on November 25, Xpeng celebrated the delivery of its 20,000th unit, setting a new record for the fastest delivery of a premium all-electric large 7-seat MPV.
In the period from January to October, Xpeng delivered a total of 122,478 vehicles, marking a 20.73 percent increase year-on-year. The X9 specifically contributed 18,808 units to this total, accounting for 15.36 percent of Xpeng’s deliveries during the same period. Monthly deliveries of the X9 peaked at 3,946 units in March and have remained consistently strong since then.
Notably, William Li, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Nio, is among the proud owners of the X9. Li, who does not currently offer an MPV model under the Nio brand, received a silver Xpeng X9 from Xpeng chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng in May. This marked Li’s first purchase of a car from a non-Nio brand in eight years, highlighting the appeal and quality of the X9.
With the introduction of the 8-seat variant, Xpeng continues to expand its offerings in the electric vehicle market, catering to the growing demand for spacious and high-performance vehicles. The company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction is evident in the success of the X9 model and its continued efforts to meet the evolving needs of consumers.
Overall, Xpeng’s X9 MPV has proven to be a popular choice among consumers, combining advanced technology, premium features, and spacious design. As the company prepares to launch the 8-seat variant, anticipation is high for another successful addition to the X9 lineup.
