Xpeng’s highly anticipated G7 electric SUV is set to make its official debut on July 3, following closely on the heels of Xiaomi’s successful launch of the YU7 SUV. The G7, priced at RMB 235,800 ($32,880), is already generating significant buzz with pre-sales starting on June 11.

The G7 is being positioned as a game-changer in the smart SUV market, boasting a rare combination of cutting-edge technologies and spacious comfort. Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, highlighted the model’s advanced features, including three Xpeng-developed Turing AI chips with over 2,200 TOPS of computing power and integration of VLA+VLM large language models, making it the first super AI car with L3 computing power.

Equipped with industry-leading technologies like AR-HUD and AI chassis with pre-view functionality, the G7 promises to deliver a seamless driving experience. The model has already received over 10,000 pre-orders within the first 46 minutes of its unveiling, indicating strong consumer interest.

The launch of the G7 comes shortly after Xiaomi’s YU7 made waves in the electric SUV market, securing over 240,000 locked orders within 18 hours of its debut. Priced at RMB 253,500, the YU7 has set a new benchmark in the industry, replacing the Tesla Model Y as the pricing standard.

Xiaomi’s success with the YU7 has prompted Xpeng to emphasize the unique selling points of the G7, catering to diverse consumer demands and challenging the dominance of a single model in the market. He Xiaopeng believes that the combination of the YU7 and G7 will alter the current market landscape, offering consumers a wider range of options to choose from.

With both Xpeng and Xiaomi pushing the boundaries of innovation in the electric SUV sector, the competition is heating up as each brand strives to set new standards for performance, technology, and comfort. The launch of the G7 is poised to shake up the market and redefine consumer expectations for electric vehicles.

Overall, Xpeng’s G7 represents a significant step forward in the evolution of smart SUVs, offering a compelling blend of advanced features, cutting-edge technologies, and luxurious comfort. As the countdown to the official launch on July 3 begins, all eyes are on Xpeng to see how the G7 will reshape the electric SUV landscape.
