Zeekr, a leading Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, has introduced its first hybrid SUV, the Zeekr 9X, at the Shanghai auto show. Scheduled for an official launch in the third quarter of this year, the Zeekr 9X is poised to redefine the boundaries between a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and a battery electric vehicle (BEV) with its impressive long range and powerful performance.
The Zeekr 9X boasts a powertrain that combines the best features of both BEVs and PHEVs, offering groundbreaking innovations in terms of performance, efficiency, and overall driving experience. The SUV is equipped with CATL’s Freevoy Battery, providing a pure electric range of over 380 kilometers, making it the hybrid SUV with the longest range globally.
CATL introduced the Freevoy Battery for hybrids in October 2024, capable of delivering more than 400 kilometers of range and supporting 4C fast charging, simulating a BEV-like experience for hybrid vehicles. This cutting-edge technology is also featured in the recently unveiled Lynk & Co 900 SUV, which has a battery range of up to 280 kilometers.
With the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just three seconds, the Zeekr 9X sets a new standard for high-performance electric driving. Its 2.0T hybrid engine generates an impressive output of 205 kW, while the dual-chamber air suspension and active stabilizer bars ensure a perfect balance of comfort and agility.
Set for a global launch in the third quarter of 2025, the Zeekr 9X will coincide with the operation of V4 ultra-fast chargers capable of peak charging power of up to 1.3 MW. This advanced charging infrastructure will further enhance the convenience and efficiency of owning an electric vehicle.
The SUV will also debut Zeekr’s latest G-Pilot H9 autonomous driving system, featuring dual Nvidia Thor chips with 1,400 TOPS of computing power and five LiDAR sensors for advanced L3 driving capabilities. Moreover, the highly anticipated Lynk & Co 900 is scheduled to go on sale on April 28, with over 40,000 pre-orders already secured.
In a related development, Zeekr recently launched the Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition, a luxury variant priced 14 percent higher than the Zeekr 009 Grand, with deliveries expected to commence in June. This move reflects the company’s strategic focus on the luxury car market and its commitment to delivering premium electric vehicles to discerning customers.
Overall, Zeekr’s innovative approach to hybrid technology and commitment to cutting-edge advancements in electric vehicles position the brand as a key player in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. With the Zeekr 9X and other exciting models on the horizon, Zeekr continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of electric mobility.
