Zenobē arrives in North America with a 500 unit EV deal [part 4]

Zenobē, a specialist in electric vehicle charging and battery storage, has recently announced a new partnership with Canadian leasing company 7Gen. This collaboration aims to fund over 500 commercial electric vehicles (EVs) along with their associated charging infrastructure.

In a deal worth up to $48 million (Canadian), Zenobē will provide debt financing to 7Gen to support the expansion of its vehicle-as-a-service electric truck leasing program across Canada. 7Gen offers a range of vehicle leasing and financing solutions for fleet operators, including EV charger deployment, energy management systems, and ongoing operational support for Canadian fleet customers utilizing electric trucks, vans, and school buses.

This latest move by Zenobē comes after securing $1.6 billion in equity from joint majority shareholders KKR and M&G Infracapital in 2023. Since then, the company has grown to support over 2,000 EVs and 120 charging depots in markets such as the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Steven Meersman, Co-Founder and Director of Zenobē, expressed excitement about bringing their innovative funding approach to Canada and working with 7Gen. He highlighted the supportive government policies in Canada and the potential for lower total cost of ownership for zero-emissions vehicles due to clean, affordable power.

Frans Tjallingii, CEO of 7Gen, also shared his enthusiasm for the partnership with Zenobē, stating that the debt financing will support the company’s next growth phase and help customers accelerate their EV adoption while benefiting from operational cost savings.

The rollout of Zenobē-funded electric trucks by 7Gen is set to begin in the coming weeks, with additional partners and projects expected to be announced soon. This collaboration marks a significant step towards advancing sustainable transportation solutions in Canada and furthering the adoption of electric vehicles in commercial fleets.
