2024 emerging Chinese NEV makers sales ranking, Li Auto was first

As we bid farewell to 2024, the latest numbers from emerging new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturers have been revealed. Li Auto, HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance), and GAC Aion have emerged as the top three performers, collectively selling over 350,000 vehicles in the past year. It’s important to note that in 2024, China saw a record-breaking 11 million units of new energy passenger vehicles being sold, with a penetration rate of nearly 50%.

The term “emerging Chinese NEV automakers” refers to newer companies specializing in electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In China, notable emerging automakers include Nio, Li Auto, and Xpeng.

2024 emerging Chinese NEV manufacturer sales ranking, unit: 10,000 vehicles

Li Auto

In December, Li Auto achieved a milestone by delivering 58,500 vehicles, marking a 16.21% increase compared to the previous year. Their total sales for 2024 surpassed 500,000 vehicles, a 33% year-on-year growth. Despite revising their annual delivery target due to model release delays, Li Auto remains a frontrunner in the NEV market.

HIMA

HIMA secured the second spot with 49,500 vehicles sold in December and a total of 445,000 vehicles sold in 2024. Aito, Luxeed, Maextro, and Stelato are among the brands under HIMA, with Aito leading in sales. HIMA’s advanced driving assistance systems have helped prevent over a million potential collisions, showcasing their commitment to safety.

GAC Aion

GAC Aion experienced a rebound in December with 46,900 units sold, amounting to 354,000 units for the year. While there was a slight decline from the previous year, GAC Aion remains a key player in the NEV market.

More competition ahead

As we enter 2025, emerging NEV manufacturers have already kicked off a new round of price wars to attract customers before the upcoming Spring Festival. The competition in the NEV sector continues to heat up, promising exciting developments in the year ahead.
