The BYD Denza B5, known as the Fangchengbao Formula Leopard Bao 5 in China, is set to make waves in the Australian luxury SUV market. With a mid-to-large size, five-seat, four-wheel drive SUV, this model offers plug-in hybrid powertrain technology, luxurious features, and a bold presence.

Expected to be marketed under the BYD luxury brand Denza in Australia, the B5 is likely to come with a price tag starting around $70,000. While initial pricing in China ranges from 239,800 to 302,800 yuan (approximately A$51,700-$65,300), additional costs associated with importing the vehicle to Australia may increase the final price.

Inside, the Denza B5 impresses with its luxurious appointments and high-tech features. From heated, cooled, electric-powered, Nappa leather seats to a 15.6-inch touchscreen display, the interior exudes luxury and functionality. The center console houses various controls and a wireless phone charging pad, while the second row offers ample space and amenities for passengers.

Under the bonnet, the B5 boasts a powerful 1.5L turbo-petrol engine paired with front and rear electric motors, delivering a combined output of 505kW and 760Nm. The vehicle’s e-CVT transmission and all-wheel drive system ensure a dynamic and capable driving experience both on and off-road.

Safety features on the Denza B5 include an array of cameras, radars, and sensors for advanced driver assistance systems, as well as a high-strength steel frame construction. Standard safety equipment in China includes airbags, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and more.

In terms of ownership costs, the B5 may come with a six-year/150,000km warranty for the vehicle and an eight-year warranty for the battery pack. While specific details are yet to be confirmed, the Denza B5 is poised to offer a unique and compelling option in the Australian luxury SUV market.
