Kia Corporation has officially opened pre-orders for its latest PV5 van/minibus range in South Korea. This marks the beginning of a new era for the company, as the PV5 is the first in a series of battery-powered purpose-built vehicles (PBVs) that Kia plans to launch in the coming years. These vehicles will be based on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP dedicated electric platform, showcasing Kia’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

The PV5 is a versatile mid-sized PBV that caters to both personal and commercial needs. It is designed to be used for commuting, leisure activities, and as a last-mile logistics solution. The vehicle will be available in two main configurations: passenger and cargo. What sets the PV5 apart is Kia’s innovative Flexible Body System, which allows for modular components that can be customized to meet the specific seating and cargo requirements of users.

Under the hood, the PV5 is equipped with a powerful 120 kW electric motor and a 71 kWh battery pack. This setup enables the vehicle to achieve a maximum driving range of 358 km on a single charge, making it a practical and efficient choice for daily use. The cargo version of the PV5 offers a spacious cargo area with a low loading height, available in three trims: compact, long, and high roof. Prices for the cargo version start at around US$ 19,000, while the passenger model starts at US$ 22,000.

In addition to the PV5’s impressive features, Kia is also inviting nominations for the prestigious Just Auto Excellence Awards. This renowned program celebrates innovation, leadership, and impact in the automotive industry. It’s an opportunity for companies to showcase their achievements, highlight industry advancements, and gain global recognition. Nominations are now open, so don’t miss the chance to be honored among the best in the industry.
