The automotive industry is rapidly evolving, with electric vehicles (EVs) becoming more prominent in the market. The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV is one of the latest additions to the electric pickup truck segment, competing with models like the Rivian R1T and the Ford F-150 Lightning. While the Silverado EV comes with a hefty price tag, it offers a range of features and capabilities that make it a compelling option for buyers.

With a TCC Rating of 8.2 out of 10, the 2025 Silverado EV boasts impressive range estimates, a comfortable ride, and advanced technology features. The lineup includes a work-oriented WT (Work Truck) version and a mid-level LT model, which is eligible for up to $7,500 in federal rebates. The Silverado EV shares more similarities with the GMC Hummer EV and the GMC Sierra EV than with its gas or diesel-powered counterpart, featuring a crew cab design with sleek styling and aerodynamic enhancements.

Despite its heavy weight, the Silverado EV offers impressive performance, with top-end versions delivering up to 765 lb-ft of torque and a 0-60 mph sprint in the mid three-second range. The truck’s fully independent suspension provides a smooth and quiet ride, while the cargo bed can accommodate up to 1,800 pounds of payload. Maximum tow ratings reach up to 12,500 pounds, with the ability to adjust range estimates based on trailer weight.

Range estimates vary across the lineup, with the base WT model offering a Standard Range 119-kwh pack with an estimated range of 282 miles. The 170-kwh Extended Range pack can go up to 422 miles, while the Max Range battery pack offers a range of 492 miles on the WT model. The interior of the Silverado EV features a spacious cabin with practical storage solutions, though higher-end models offer more upscale materials and finishes.

In terms of safety and driver-assistance features, the Silverado EV comes equipped with automatic emergency braking, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, and a sharp backup camera. Higher-trim models can be equipped with GM’s Super Cruise system, allowing for hands-off and eyes-on driving at highway speeds. Pricing for the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV starts at $57,095 for the Work Truck model, with higher trim levels reaching up to $97,895 for an RST with the Max Range pack.

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV is manufactured in Hamtramck, Michigan, showcasing the brand’s commitment to American manufacturing. Overall, the Silverado EV offers a compelling blend of performance, technology, and practicality, making it a strong competitor in the electric pickup truck segment.
