The Australian market is gearing up for the launch of Chery’s lifestyle-focused luxury SUV sub-brand, Jaecoo, in the first quarter of 2025. The Jaecoo brand will introduce the J7 mid-sized SUV initially, followed by smaller and larger offerings in the form of the J5 and J8 models.

The Jaecoo J8, a medium-large seven-seat family SUV available in five- and six-seat configurations, is set to compete with vehicles like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, and Mazda CX-80. The J8 is built on Chery’s T1X monocoque chassis and features CDC suspension with electronically controlled adaptive dampers for a smooth ride.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 195kW and 400Nm, the J8 offers decent performance and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Despite its size, the J8 is relatively lightweight and offers a comfortable and refined driving experience.

The interior of the Jaecoo J8 is luxurious, with Nappa leather upholstery and a design reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz models. The cabin is well-appointed with modern features like a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and ambient lighting. The J8 also offers plenty of storage space and comfortable seating for up to seven passengers.

In terms of safety, the J8 is equipped with a range of advanced features, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, and a surround-view camera system. The flagship model adds additional safety technologies like emergency lane-keep assist and blind-spot detection.

With a generous warranty package and competitive pricing, the Jaecoo J8 is expected to be a strong contender in the seven-seat SUV segment. Its premium interior, refined driving experience, and comprehensive safety features make it a compelling choice for families and value-conscious buyers.

Overall, the Jaecoo J8 is a well-rounded SUV that offers a balance of performance, comfort, and safety. It is poised to make a mark in the Australian market when it arrives in 2025.
