2025 Lexus GX Review: Prices, Specs, and Photos

The 2025 Lexus GX may not be the most sporty SUV on the market, but it certainly packs a punch with its twin-turbo V-6 engine. This powerful engine delivers an impressive 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, making for a thrilling driving experience. Paired with a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission, the GX accelerates smoothly in normal driving conditions, though heavy acceleration may produce an unpleasant underhood whine.

One of the standout features of the Lexus GX is its off-road capabilities. All models come equipped with a 2-speed transfer case and permanent four-wheel drive, ensuring that you can tackle any terrain with ease. The Overtrail version takes it a step further with a locking rear differential, unique sway bars for improved articulation, additional drive modes for slippery terrain, and a system that allows the SUV to crawl over rough obstacles at a slow pace.

When it comes to towing, the Lexus GX is no slouch. Depending on the trim level and configuration, towing capacity ranges from 7,601 to over 9,000 pounds. Whether you’re hauling a fishing boat or a trailer full of gear, the GX is a confident choice for heavy loads. The Tow Mode limits the transmission to the first 8 gears, reducing wear and improving response while towing.

In terms of handling, the Lexus GX offers light and quick steering for an SUV. The Premium trim provides a comfortable ride with standard 20-inch alloy wheels, while the Luxury trim adds 22-inch wheels with available adaptive dampers to mitigate the effects of low-profile tires. The Overtrail model stands out with its Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which minimizes body lean in cornering and allows for more wheel travel over bumps.

Overall, the Lexus GX may not be the most refined SUV to drive, but it excels in power, off-road capability, and towing capacity. For buyers in search of a versatile and capable SUV, the 2025 Lexus GX is definitely worth considering.
