2025 Lexus LX700h review: Quick drive

Lexus has recently introduced its updated 2025 LX range, which now includes a new hybrid variant known as the LX700h. This new addition boasts a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine paired with an electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission. With this configuration, the LX700h delivers impressive outputs of 341kW and 790Nm, outperforming the non-hybrid LX600 model.

While the refreshed LX range is set to hit the Australian market this year, the availability of the LX700h in this market is still uncertain. However, in a recent test drive conducted in the United Arab Emirates, where the vehicle has been launched, the LX700h showcased its capabilities with a 700mm wading depth and a reliable starting mechanism that allows the engine to kick in independently of the electric motor.

Chassis upgrades have been made to support the hybrid battery, enhance rigidity, and reduce vibrations on the road. The interior of the LX700h is equipped with a 12.3-inch widescreen digital instrument cluster, air bladder seats for reduced fatigue, and a new electronic gear selector. Safety features have also been enhanced with autonomous emergency braking for intersections and a driver monitoring camera that can detect driver fatigue.

In terms of pricing, the entry-level LX700h Signature model starts at AED590,000 (A$251,950) in the UAE, while the flagship F Sport model is priced at AED635,000 (A$271,170). These prices are hypothetical for the Australian market, pending confirmation of the LX700h’s availability.

The LX700h is built on a solid foundation with a body-on-frame GA-F platform shared with the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series. It offers a blend of luxury and off-road capabilities, making it a versatile choice for buyers looking for a premium SUV that can handle both city streets and rugged terrains.

Overall, the Lexus LX700h is a sophisticated and powerful SUV that caters to a niche market segment. It combines luxury, performance, and off-road prowess in a single package, making it an attractive choice for those seeking a high-end hybrid SUV experience.
