BYD to Launch Atto 2 Crossover in the UK

BYD is set to introduce the Atto 2 crossover in the UK next month, with a starting price of £30,850. This new model fills the gap between the Dolphin hatch and Atto 3 SUV, positioning BYD in the competitive electric crossover market.

Targeting rivals like Jeep Avenger and Hyundai Kona Electric, BYD aims to position the Atto 2 as a premium offering in the segment. The company plans to compete with more expensive models such as Smart #1 and Volvo EX30.

The Atto 2 comes with a range of standard features, even in the entry-level Boost model. It includes 17-inch alloys, a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, wireless charging, a premium audio system with eight speakers, and vehicle-to-load capabilities. Additionally, it boasts a heat pump for added comfort.

The Boost model is equipped with a single motor delivering 174bhp to the front wheels, powered by a 51.1kWh battery pack offering a range of 214 miles.

Later this year, a more advanced Comfort model will be introduced at £34,950. This model will feature a 15.6-inch touchscreen, upgraded materials, a larger 64.8kWh battery pack providing up to 261 miles of range, and a more powerful 201bhp motor.

Charging capabilities of the Atto 2 are impressive, with the Boost model supporting up to 82kW charging rates for a 30-80% charge in just 30 minutes. The Comfort model increases this to 155kW, reducing the charging time to 21 minutes.

Both configurations of the Atto 2 can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds, with a top speed limited to 99mph.
