BeijingWest Smart Mobility Celebrates Inauguration of New Factory for MagneRide® Suspension System Production

BeijingWest Smart Mobility Zhangjiakou Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. recently hosted a momentous inauguration ceremony for its state-of-the-art factory located in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, also known as the “Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone.” This event signifies the official commencement of mass production for the company’s cutting-edge fourth-generation MagneRide® magnetorheological suspension system.

The Shenshan facility is hailed as the first of its kind in China to achieve large-scale production of magnetorheological suspension systems. Initially, the plant’s annual production capacity is set at 600,000 units of magnetorheological dampers, which will cater to approximately 150,000 vehicles. With future plans to increase production to serve two million vehicles, the facility aims to drive economies of scale and enable automakers to improve cost-effectiveness while making advanced intelligent suspension systems more accessible to consumers.

The fourth-generation MagneRide® suspension system manufactured at the Shenshan factory boasts exceptional damping adjustability and comprehensive vehicle body control. With the ability to generate thousands of Newtons of damping force in just one millisecond, this system allows for rapid vehicle posture adjustments that significantly enhance both handling and comfort. Its symmetric compression and rebound damping characteristics make it particularly well-suited for heavier new energy vehicles (NEVs), offering robust body support and a smooth driving experience.

Spanning over 60,000 square meters and with a total investment exceeding 2.3 billion yuan, the Shenshan factory stands as BeijingWest Smart Mobility’s sixth production base in China. It is also one of the most automated among the company’s ten global facilities, playing a pivotal role in the large-scale domestic production of the fourth-generation MagneRide® suspension system.

This latest iteration of MagneRide® technology combines intelligent algorithms with high-precision hardware to make real-time damping adjustments at a frequency of 1,000 times per second. By analyzing data from sensors monitoring road conditions, vehicle dynamics, and driving status, the system dynamically optimizes vehicle handling and ride comfort. Its standardized hardware allows for easy damping characteristic adjustments through software, ensuring broad compatibility across various vehicle platforms.

The Shenshan plant boasts a fully digitalized value chain and automated control over key manufacturing processes. It features an AI-powered industrial vision system for error prevention throughout the production process, ensuring 100% traceability in critical procedures to uphold industry-leading quality standards. The factory’s advanced manufacturing execution system (MES) oversees the entire production chain, providing real-time monitoring of quality, equipment status, production efficiency, and workflow progress. Smart logistics solutions, including automated storage systems and logistics equipment, further enhance operational efficiency.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, the factory’s rooftop is equipped with over 26,000 square meters of solar panels, with a total installed capacity of 3 megawatts. This initiative helps reduce carbon emissions by approximately 3,000 tonnes annually. The plant’s annual solar power generation is sufficient to meet its operational electricity needs, with a target of achieving 100% green energy consumption by 2027.

With the inauguration of the new factory in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, BeijingWest Smart Mobility is poised to revolutionize the production of advanced suspension systems and drive innovation in the automotive industry.
