BYD’s 1st 1,000-kW ultrafast charging stations to be ready for use in early Apr

BYD is making significant strides in the field of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure with the construction of 4,000 1,000-kW flash charging stations. These ultrafast charging stations are capable of adding 400 kilometers of range to a vehicle in just five minutes, a groundbreaking advancement in EV charging technology.

The first batch of approximately 500 of these high-power charging stations is set to be operational by early April. The announcement of this technology comes on the heels of BYD’s unveiling of the 1,000-kW supercharger, which was introduced on March 17. This supercharger boasts the ability to add 2 kilometers of range to an EV in just one second, or an impressive 400 kilometers in a mere 5 minutes.

Compared to Tesla’s latest V4 supercharger with a peak power of 500 kW, BYD’s 1,000-kW supercharger represents a significant leap forward in charging capabilities. BYD plans to deploy over 4,000 of these high-power charging stations, with the first batch being integrated into the launch of the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV in early April.

To ensure consistent charging power in areas with limited power capacity, BYD will incorporate energy storage facilities into these supercharger stations. This innovation will enable the 1,000-kW charging power to be achieved even in regions with insufficient power infrastructure.

The vehicles utilizing these ultrafast charging stations will need to be equipped with BYD’s latest blade battery, which supports a charging rate of 10 C, the highest among mass-produced power batteries globally. This advanced battery technology enables rapid charging with charging voltages of up to 1,000 V and charging currents of up to 1,000 A, allowing for a charging power of 1,000 kW.

The official launch of the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV, both featuring the new supercharger technology, is scheduled for early April. BYD’s commitment to innovation and mass production of new technologies underscores its position as a leader in the electric vehicle industry.

As BYD continues to advance its charging infrastructure and battery technology, the company remains focused on promoting new energy vehicles (NEVs) and driving the electrification and intelligence of the automotive industry. With a focus on technological advancements and product quality, BYD is poised to make a significant impact in the market and contribute to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.
