BMW has recently announced a strengthened partnership with China’s Alibaba group, aiming to integrate the tech giant’s AI-powered digital cockpit platform into its upcoming models to be sold in China. This collaboration comes as BMW looks to enhance its product range and regain lost ground in the competitive Chinese vehicle market, where it experienced a 13% drop in sales last year.

The German automaker has been working closely with Alibaba’s eBanma subsidiary to integrate its AI large language model into its Neue Klasse models. The highlight of this partnership is the development of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant intelligent cockpit, based on Alibaba’s Tongyi large model. This innovative technology is set to offer users a more intelligent, natural, and intuitive interactive experience.

BMW plans to unveil the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show in April, showcasing the jointly developed smart mobility interaction scenarios. The new generation of models from 2026 is expected to feature this cutting-edge technology, providing users with a seamless and advanced driving experience.

In addition to the integration of the AI-powered digital cockpit platform, BMW and Alibaba will continue to collaborate on exploring new cross-domain integration in infrastructure, platforms, and services. This partnership signifies BMW’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the automotive industry.

Overall, BMW’s collaboration with Alibaba underscores its dedication to innovation and enhancing the driving experience for its customers. By leveraging Alibaba’s AI expertise, BMW aims to deliver state-of-the-art technology in its vehicles, setting a new standard for intelligent cockpit solutions in the automotive market. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting partnership between BMW and Alibaba.
