Nio is gearing up for the unveiling of a new model, the ES9, at Nio Day 2025 later this year. The ES9 will be a large SUV based on Nio’s latest NT 3.0 platform, rumored to be over 5.2 meters long. This marks the first time the ES9 has been mentioned on a social media platform, sparking excitement among automotive enthusiasts.
The screenshot of a chat circulating on Weibo also revealed plans for the updated ES8 SUV, set to hit the market in August. The new ES8, based on the third-generation platform, may exceed 5.1 meters in length. Interestingly, the ES8 is currently based on the ES7 SUV, which might undergo a strategic renaming. The ES7 measures 4,912 mm in length, while the current ES8 is 5,099 mm long.
In addition to the ES9 and updated ES8, Nio is preparing to launch updated versions of the ES6 SUV and EC6 coupe SUV in May. Following in June, the updated ET5 sedan and ET5 Touring shooting brake will make their debut. These new models will join Nio’s existing lineup, which includes the flagship ET9 sedan and ES8 SUV, among others.
Nio has been actively expanding its product portfolio, with plans for new launches every quarter this year. The brand’s main sellers, including the ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, and EC6, will receive facelifts and feature a horizontal center screen and Nio’s own Shenji autonomous driving chip. These models are expected to be built on the NT 2.5 platform, bridging the gap to the latest NT 3.0 platform.
Subsidiary Onvo is also making waves with the upcoming launch of the L90 model at the 2025 Shanghai auto show. Meanwhile, Nio’s third brand, Firefly, is set to debut its first model on April 19. The Nio World Model (NWM) was scheduled to open to users in April but faced delays due to regulatory approvals. The NWM trial will commence in early April for select users, with a full rollout expected by mid to late May.
Overall, Nio’s ambitious plans for new models, updates, and technological advancements showcase the brand’s commitment to innovation and growth in the competitive EV market. Stay tuned for more updates as Nio continues to redefine the future of electric mobility.
