Great Wall Motor (HKG: 2333) has been diligently working on a supercar project for the past five years, aiming to develop a vehicle that will ignite drivers’ passion and excitement, as revealed by the Chinese automaker’s Chief Technology Officer, Wu Huixiao.

In an interview with renowned car blogger @保镖的车库, Wu disclosed details about the ambitious supercar project. Despite the extensive research and development efforts invested in the project, Great Wall Motor has not yet unveiled the supercar to the public. Wu explained that the company is committed to further reducing costs before officially launching the high-performance vehicle.

Anticipation is high for the upcoming supercar, with Wu assuring that it will be nothing short of spectacular once it hits the market. When questioned about the possibility of the supercar taking on the challenging Nürburgring track in Germany, Wu hinted at the company’s recent collaboration with track experts from Europe.

However, Wu acknowledged the challenges faced during the development process, particularly with the carbon pod component. She emphasized the complexities involved in manufacturing carbon pods and highlighted that no Chinese company has mastered this process yet.

Comparisons were drawn between Great Wall Motor’s supercar and the renowned Ferrari SF90, with Wu expressing confidence that their creation would outshine its competitors. She emphasized the importance of learning from industry peers while striving to deliver a superior product.

As a prominent player in the automotive industry, Great Wall Motor is known for its diverse range of brands, including Haval, Wey, Tank, and Ora, with a primary focus on SUVs and pickup trucks. Despite facing a slight decline in vehicle sales in the first quarter, the company remains committed to innovation and excellence.

In a competitive landscape where rivals like BYD have already introduced their own supercars, Great Wall Motor is determined to make a mark with its upcoming high-performance vehicle. With BYD launching the impressive Yangwang U9 electric supercar and unveiling the Denza Z concept sports car, the pressure is on for Great Wall Motor to deliver a groundbreaking supercar that will captivate enthusiasts worldwide.

Stay tuned for more updates on Great Wall Motor’s supercar project, as the company continues to push boundaries and redefine the automotive industry with its innovative creations.
