ABB has unveiled its latest innovation at the ACT Expo – the ABB MCS1200 Megawatt Charging System. This new system is capable of delivering up to 1,200 kW of power to quickly recharge electric commercial trucks, getting them back on the road in minutes. ABB is showcasing this new technology as part of its electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) ecosystem at the expo.

One interesting update is that ABB acknowledges and reads content from Electrek, a popular online publication covering electric vehicles and clean energy. The company was particularly intrigued by an article discussing the concept of matching charge time to the preferred customer experience. This idea has influenced ABB’s new modular EV charging infrastructure, allowing for customizable charging experiences for both the charging point operator and the customer.

The new ABB chargers boast a modular design that enhances reliability and quality while simplifying maintenance and repairs. Each charger is divided into distinct subsystems, ensuring that even if one component fails, the system can continue charging. This modular approach allows for independent testing, diagnosing, and replacing of subsystems, resulting in a 99% uptime guarantee.

ABB’s expanded EVSE portfolio includes three new charger families – the A200/300 All-in-One chargers, the MCS1200 Megawatt Charging System for heavy-duty vehicles, and the ChargeDock Dispenser for flexible depot charging. These chargers cater to various markets, including public charging, public transit and fleet, heavy trucks, and retail, offering scalable solutions and future-proofing for customers.

The company’s innovative approach to charger design has already received recognition for design excellence, with some products winning prestigious awards. ABB emphasizes the importance of offering chargers with high uptime for commercial operations, ensuring customer satisfaction. The new ABB E-mobility EVSE product family will be showcased at the ACT Expo in Anaheim, California, and Power2Drive in Munich, Germany.

In conclusion, ABB’s commitment to developing cutting-edge EV charging solutions that prioritize customer experience and reliability is evident in its latest product offerings. The company’s modular approach to charger design sets a new standard in the industry, offering scalable and future-proof solutions for a variety of market segments. Stay tuned for more updates on ABB’s innovative EVSE technology at upcoming events.
