Tesla Cybertruck inventory skyrockets to record high

Tesla’s Cybertruck inventory has reached a new high, with over 10,000 units currently available. This surge in inventory is causing concern for the vehicle program, as it indicates a potential crisis.

In early April, reports indicated that Tesla had around 2,400 Cybertrucks in new inventory in the US. However, the latest data from Tesla-Info.com shows that the number of listings has skyrocketed to over 10,000 units. This significant increase in inventory could be attributed to Tesla’s heavy discounting of the trucks, resulting in multiple listings at varying prices.

With an average sale price of $78,000, Tesla’s Cybertruck inventory could be valued at nearly $800 million. Despite the high inventory levels, demand for the Cybertruck appears to be low, leading Tesla to slow down production in recent months. This surge in inventory is likely more a result of discounts and pricing variations than an actual increase in production.

Many of the Cybertrucks in inventory were built in 2024, making them at least four months old. Additionally, Tesla still has ‘Foundation Series’ Cybertrucks in inventory, which have not been produced since October 2024. The recent launch of the Cybertruck RWD saw Tesla simplifying the lineup by removing certain features and offering only one battery pack option.

The current situation with over 10,000 Cybertrucks in inventory poses a challenge for Tesla. It seems that the automaker may need to reevaluate its production plans for the Cybertruck, as demand does not appear to meet initial expectations. Despite planning for production of 250,000 units, selling more than 20,000 Cybertrucks per year in the US may prove to be difficult under the current circumstances.

In conclusion, Tesla’s Cybertruck program is facing challenges with a record high inventory of over 10,000 units. The company may need to reassess its production strategy and sales projections to address the current market conditions and demand for the electric pickup truck.
