The story of the Mihogo Mini electric bike is an interesting one, filled with risks and rewards. As a seasoned buyer of unconventional EVs from China, the author decided to back an Indiegogo campaign for a $390 electric bike that seemed too good to be true. Despite warning readers against it, the author took on the risk personally to see what would happen.

After a long wait, the bike finally arrived in a small box at the author’s doorstep. Unboxing the bike revealed a compact yet impressive machine. With a 350W rear hub motor, a 48V 16Ah battery, front suspension fork, and 12″ tires, the bike was able to reach speeds of around 20 mph. The bike also featured a color LCD screen, folding handlebar stem, front & rear LED lighting, and IP65 rating.

One of the standout features of the Mihogo Mini was its wishbone-style frame, which created a hollow cavity in the middle for storage. Despite its low price, the bike came with disc brakes and five color options. However, there were some drawbacks, such as an uncomfortable saddle, limited pedal assistance, and a weight of 41 lbs.

The author cautioned against taking risks like they did with the Indiegogo campaign, as many crowdfunding campaigns end in disappointment. While the author was pleased with the outcome, they advised against blindly backing unknown e-bike companies. The price of the Mihogo Mini has since fluctuated, but the author continues to enjoy their unique electric bike.

Overall, the Mihogo Mini electric bike proved to be a surprising and enjoyable purchase, despite the initial risks involved. It serves as a reminder to tread carefully when backing crowdfunding campaigns and to always be prepared for the unexpected.
