Nissan N7 EV Sets Record with Over 10,000 Orders in China

Nissan’s latest electric sedan, the N7 EV, has made a remarkable debut in China. The automaker announced that the N7 EV has set a new record in the country, receiving over 10,000 orders in just 18 days since its launch.

The N7 EV, which is the first dedicated electric vehicle from Nissan’s Chinese joint venture, Dongfeng-Nissan, has been well-received by consumers. The affordable price point starting at 119,900 yuan (approximately $16,500) has been a major selling point for the vehicle. It is available in two LFP battery options – 58 kWh and 73 kWh, offering driving ranges of up to 625 km (388 miles).

The sleek design of the N7 EV, featuring Nissan’s signature “V-Motion” style, has garnered attention in the competitive EV market. The interior of the vehicle is equipped with smart technology, including a 15.6″ 2.5K central infotainment system that acts as an in-car home theater. Momenta’s smart driving system is also integrated into the N7 EV, providing safety and intelligent driving features such as high-speed navigation assistance and intelligent parking assistance.

In addition to its technological features, the N7 EV offers some unique amenities, such as a smart heating and cooling refrigerator. The vehicle is available in five trims, with prices ranging from 119,900 yuan ($16,500) to 149,900 yuan ($20,500).

While the N7 EV has shown promise in China, Nissan is facing challenges in its overall business operations. The Japanese automaker recently canceled plans for a new LFP battery plant and is planning to reduce its global workforce by around 15%. Competitors like BYD are gaining market share in the EV sector, posing a challenge for traditional automakers like Nissan and Toyota.

BYD, for instance, sold over 10,000 units of its Qin L EV model within the first week of its launch in China. With a similar starting price to the N7 EV, BYD’s success highlights the intense competition in the Chinese EV market.

As Nissan strives to compete with industry leaders like BYD, the performance of the N7 EV will be closely monitored. Can the Nissan N7 EV establish itself as a strong contender in the world’s largest EV market? Share your thoughts on the N7 EV and its potential in the comments below.
