Tragedy Strikes at Bicester Motion as Fire Claims Lives of Two Firefighters and a Member of the Public

On the evening of 15 May, a devastating fire broke out at Bicester Motion, a former RAF base in Oxfordshire that is home to over 50 automotive businesses. The blaze was so intense that it could be seen from several miles away, prompting the dispatch of 10 fire crews to the scene.

Tragically, two firefighters lost their lives while battling the inferno, and two others sustained serious injuries and are currently hospitalized. The identity of the member of the public who also perished in the fire has not been disclosed.

Oxfordshire County Council confirmed the loss of the firefighters, with chief fire officer Rob MacDougall expressing profound sadness and offering support to the families of the fallen heroes. The cause of the fire and the specific businesses affected by the tragedy remain unknown at this time.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, praising the bravery of the firefighters and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the line of duty.

Bicester Motion, formerly known as Bicester Heritage, is a hub for classic car restoration and engineering firms, with showrooms for prestigious brands like Polestar and Morgan located within the complex.

In a statement released following the tragic incident, Bicester Motion expressed deep sorrow over the loss of two firefighters and a beloved member of the site. The community’s thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
