Nio (NYSE: NIO) has officially launched the updated ET5 sedan and ET5T wagon, bringing multiple feature upgrades while maintaining an unchanged starting price. Both models, including the standard 75-kWh range battery pack, start at RMB 298,000 ($41,500), the same as their predecessors.

Customers can opt for a BaaS (battery as a service) plan, where the ET5 and ET5T start at RMB 228,000, with monthly battery rental fees starting at RMB 728 yuan. Nio is currently accepting orders for the updated models, with immediate deliveries available.

For customers who lock in their orders on or before June 30, Nio is offering up to four free battery swaps per month for five years, along with five years of free NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot Plus) usage. Additionally, customers will receive a free AC charging and discharging kit, or they can choose to replace this with RMB 5,000 in option funds.

Other entitlements include free options for comfort features worth RMB 9,500, such as front seat ventilation and massage functions. The ET5 is a five-seat mid-size sedan, while the ET5T is a wagon variant targeting a niche market segment. Both models have received over 500 component upgrades, with a focus on safety and comfort enhancements.

The updated ET5 and ET5T feature a Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip developed in-house by Nio, providing computing power equivalent to four Nvidia Orin X chips. The center screen has been upgraded to a horizontal AMOLED display, similar to the one found in Nio’s ET9 executive flagship sedan.

The ET5 and ET5T are key models for Nio, with the ET5 contributing 11.94 percent of Nio Inc’s full-year deliveries in 2024, and the ET5T contributing 22.92 percent. In January-April 2025, the ET5 delivered 5,284 units, accounting for 8.01 percent of Nio Inc’s deliveries in the same period, while the ET5T delivered 13,468 units, contributing 20.41 percent.
