First ever Honda electric motorcycle debuts – and it’s a cafe racer!

Honda has finally released its first-ever production electric motorcycle, and it’s a cafe racer-inspired beauty that is hard to miss. After years of teasing electric concept bikes, Honda has delivered with the E-VO, a stylish and powerful electric motorcycle that is now available for purchase.

The Honda E-VO comes in dual- or triple-battery versions, offering 4.1 or 6.2 kWh of battery capacity, respectively. The triple-battery version provides riders with up to 105 miles of riding range, making it a practical option for daily commuting or weekend adventures. Recharging the batteries takes about 2.5 hours on a standard outlet, or just 90 minutes on an L2 charger. Unfortunately, DC fast charging is not available for quick top-ups on the go.

Equipped with a motor delivering 20 hp, the Honda E-VO offers impressive in-town performance with instant torque available at 0 rpm. This means riders can enjoy quick acceleration and smooth power delivery, similar to higher-displacement bikes. The E-VO also features a 7-inch TFT instrument display, paired with a secondary screen for navigation, music, tire pressure, and battery state-of-charge information. The higher-capacity model even includes front and rear dash cams as standard equipment.

Available in black and off-white color schemes, the Honda E-VO is priced starting at 29,999 yuan (approximately $4,500) for the 4.1 kWh version, and 36,999 yuan (around $5,100) for the triple-battery model. While this electric motorcycle is currently only available in the Chinese market, enthusiasts in other regions are hopeful for a similar offering in the future.

In conclusion, the Honda E-VO is a promising step towards the electrification of motorcycles, offering a blend of style, performance, and affordability. With the growing demand for electric vehicles, it’s exciting to see established manufacturers like Honda entering the electric motorcycle market. Hopefully, we will see more electric bikes like the E-VO in other markets soon.
