BYD exports from China to global markets: PHEVs lead in Brazil and Mexico丨Top 10 destination of BYD's shipments for passenger vehicles (Jan.–Apr. 2025)

Brazil and Mexico have emerged as key target markets for BYD’s global expansion, with a combined export volume nearing 100,000 units. Favorable policies such as Brazil’s “Rota 2030” program and Mexico’s infrastructure development efforts are creating conducive environments for the growth of BYD’s NEVs.

In Brazil, BYD is collaborating with the government of Bahia state to establish its Camaçari production complex, set to commence operations on June 26. The initial models to be manufactured include the Seagull and Song Pro DM-i. In Mexico, discussions are underway for a local factory as models like the Seagull, Dolphin, Song PLUS, Song Pro, and Destroyer 05 gain traction in the market.

Belgium, a vital logistics hub in Europe, ranks third with 42,099 units exported, with BEVs accounting for approximately 55.5% of the total. Aside from meeting local demand, a significant portion of these vehicles is efficiently distributed to key Western European markets like Germany, France, and the Netherlands, positioning Belgium as BYD’s strategic gateway to Europe. BYD is intensifying its expansion efforts across the region.

On May 21, BYD simultaneously introduced the BYD DOLPHIN SURF in 15 European countries, bolstering its lineup of pint-sized BEVs and expanding market penetration through its established distribution network.

Thailand (14,636 BEVs) and Indonesia (13,717 BEVs) standout as prominent markets for BYD’s exports, representing the BEV segment. Both countries offer government incentives to support BEV adoption. BYD’s Rayong plant in Thailand is operational, enhancing its supply capacity and competitiveness in the local and neighboring markets. In Indonesia, plans for a local factory are progressing.

The data underscores BYD’s balanced approach in driving growth through both BEVs and PHEVs, with markets like Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, and the Philippines favoring PHEVs, while Belgium, Australia, Thailand, and Indonesia are predominantly driven by BEV sales.
