The UK’s Biggest Van Seller Ford Falls Behind on EV Sales Targets

The UK’s leading van seller, Ford, is facing challenges in meeting tough government-mandated electric vehicle (EV) sales targets, according to new data. As per the latest figures, Ford has sold 2443 electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs) this year, accounting for only 5.4% of its total LCV sales of 45,190 units. This falls significantly short of the 16% target mandated by the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate.

In comparison, Volkswagen, the nation’s second-largest van seller, is faring better with a 19% share of EV sales so far this year. This success can be attributed to the popularity of the commercial version of the ID Buzz electric vehicle.

It is evident that Ford is lagging behind its competitors in the transition to electric vehicles. While Volkswagen has made significant progress in meeting EV targets, Ford needs to step up its efforts to catch up and comply with the government mandates.

As the automotive industry shifts towards sustainable solutions, it is crucial for manufacturers like Ford to prioritize electric vehicle sales and invest in innovative technologies to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options.
