Xpeng to launch G7 SUV next week

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) is gearing up to launch its latest offering, the G7 SUV, next week. This announcement comes hot on the heels of the company’s successful pre-sales launch earlier this month, where it received an overwhelming response from customers.

The electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer took to Weibo to share the news of the impending launch, although the exact date remains unspecified at this time. The timing of Xpeng’s G7 debut seems strategic, as it follows Xiaomi’s announcement today regarding the launch of its YU7 SUV on June 26. Xiaomi’s entry into the EV market is highly anticipated, making the launch of the G7 all the more significant.

Xpeng initially unveiled the G7 on June 11, commencing pre-sales with a starting price of RMB 235,800 ($32,810). Positioned between the G6 SUV and the flagship G9 model, the G7 aims to cater to a wide range of consumers seeking a mid-size SUV with advanced features.

The G7 quickly gained traction, with over 10,000 pre-orders pouring in within the first 46 minutes of its debut event. This overwhelming response underscores the market’s appetite for Xpeng’s latest offering.

The G7 boasts a sleek design with dimensions measuring 4,892 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height. The SUV features an 800-volt high-voltage architecture and comes in Max and Ultra variants, both offering a CLTC range of 702 kilometers.

What sets the G7 apart is its incorporation of up to three Turing AI chips developed in-house by Xpeng. The Ultra variant, in particular, boasts an impressive computing power exceeding 2,200 TOPS, positioning it as the world’s first AI car to achieve L3 computing power. This cutting-edge technology underscores Xpeng’s commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of smart driving capabilities.

Stay tuned for more updates on Xpeng’s G7 launch and the latest developments in the electric vehicle industry.
