The New Kia EV4: A Game-Changing Hatchback

The highly anticipated Kia EV4 hatchback is set to make waves in the UK market this autumn, priced at £34,695. Drawing inspiration from the concept showcased in 2023, the EV4 shares its foundation with the popular EV3 hatchback.

Offering versatility, the EV4 will be available in both hatchback and saloon variants. The hatchback, similar in size to the Hyundai Kona Electric, will compete with the likes of the Citroën ë-C4, Volkswagen ID 3, and Volvo EX40 in the European market.

Equipped with a single front-mounted motor producing 201bhp, the EV4 promises a spirited performance with a 0-62mph time in the mid-7.0sec range, varying based on battery and trim options. Additionally, enthusiasts can look forward to a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive GT version that will rival the MG 4 EV XPower.

For eco-conscious drivers, the entry-level EV4 features a 58.3kWh battery pack offering a commendable range of 273 miles in hatch form. Opting for the larger 81.4kWh battery (starting at £37,695) will extend the range to an impressive 388 miles between charges.

Charging the EV4 is convenient, with a 10-80% charge taking around 29-31 minutes depending on the battery size. Inside, the EV4 boasts a futuristic 30-inch dashboard screen, combining two 12.3-inch segments for infotainment and instrumentation, separated by a 5.3-inch climate panel. Notably, it will be the first Kia to feature entertainment apps like Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube.

While pricing details for the EV4 saloon are yet to be revealed, it is expected to arrive in the UK later than the hatch, as production will take place in Kia’s native Korea instead of Slovakia. With its cutting-edge features, impressive performance, and eco-friendly credentials, the Kia EV4 is poised to redefine the electric hatchback segment.
