New Porsche 911 Carrera 4S gets 30bhp boost and GTS brakes

The latest iteration of the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera 4S has just been unveiled, boasting a significant power upgrade compared to its predecessor. With an additional 30bhp under the hood, courtesy of an intercooler borrowed from the more powerful 911 Turbo, the 4S now delivers a total output of 473bhp.

This enhanced power enables the Carrera 4S to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono pack, maintaining its previous performance figures. The top speed has been measured at an impressive 191mph.

The 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat six engine is exclusively paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic (PDK) gearbox, leaving manual transmission enthusiasts to explore the alternatives in the form of the 911 T or the elite GT3 and S/T models. To further enhance the driving experience, the 4S now features a new sports exhaust system to amplify the distinctive sound of the flat-six engine.

Furthermore, the Carrera 4S benefits from upgraded brakes sourced from the more performance-focused GTS model, boasting 408mm discs at the front and 380mm at the rear. Available in three body styles – coupe, cabriolet, and Targa – the coupe variant is a standard two-seater, with the option of a back row at no additional cost. The cabriolet and Targa models come as 2+2 configurations, with the Targa model equipped with rear-wheel steering to enhance agility and compensate for its slightly heavier build compared to its counterparts.

For enthusiasts looking to bring home the new Carrera 4S, prices start at £127,000 for the coupe, £137,000 for the cabriolet, and £137,600 for the Targa variant. With its enhanced performance, sleek design, and updated features, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is set to captivate automotive enthusiasts and collectors alike.
