BYD’s Song PLUS DM-i Champion Edition Vehicles Roll Off Production Line in Uzbekistan
The first batch of BYD’s Song PLUS DM-i Champion Edition vehicles has successfully rolled off the production line at the Chinese electric vehicle maker’s factory in Uzbekistan. This significant milestone marks the beginning of a new era in sustainable mobility in the Central Asian market.
The factory, situated in Jizzakh, is a result of the collaboration between BYD and Uzavtosanoat JSC (UzAuto), announced in December 2022. The production facility aims to manufacture two popular plug-in hybrid electric models, the Song PLUS DM-i Champion Edition and the Destroyer 05 Champion Edition, with an annual capacity of 50,000 units. This production capacity will cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles in Uzbekistan.
In addition to the production launch, BYD and the government of Uzbekistan have signed a green transportation cooperation initiative to promote sustainable mobility in the country. This initiative signifies a commitment to advancing the development of the NEV industry in Uzbekistan and transitioning towards a greener transportation system.
Earlier this year, President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan visited BYD’s headquarters in China and attended the production launch ceremony for the Uzbekistan factory. The partnership between BYD and Uzbekistan not only accelerates the adoption of NEVs in the country but also positions Tashkent as a demonstration city for green transportation initiatives.
Since entering the Uzbek market in March 2023, BYD has emerged as the top-selling NEV brand, earning consumer trust with its high-quality products, innovative technology, and professional local services. The success of BYD in Uzbekistan reflects the growing demand for electric vehicles and the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
With the production of the Song PLUS DM-i Champion Edition vehicles in Uzbekistan, BYD is poised to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle market in Central Asia. The collaboration between BYD and Uzbekistan underscores a shared vision for a greener future and sets the stage for further advancements in sustainable mobility.
