Jaecoo 5 to arrive later this year as petrol-powered Evoque rival

The upcoming Jaecoo 5 is set to hit the UK market later this year, with a debut appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This crossover vehicle will be the latest addition to the Chery-owned Jaecoo lineup, joining the popular Jaecoo 7 which has already gained a strong following in the UK with nearly 6000 sales since its launch earlier this year.

Built on the same T1X platform as its larger sibling, the Jaecoo 5 shares similarities with the Omoda range, including the 5, 7, 9, and the recently unveiled 3. Despite its relation to electric models in the lineup, the Jaecoo 5 will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine, producing an estimated 187bhp and 203lb ft of torque. This engine will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox for smooth and efficient performance.

Visually, the Jaecoo 5 bears a resemblance to the larger Jaecoo 7, featuring similar front and rear end designs but with a more compact size and a sleeker roofline. Inside, the Jaecoo 5 offers a smaller infotainment screen compared to the Jaecoo 7, as well as a dashboard-mounted screen in place of the larger model’s floating driver’s display.

The Jaecoo 5 will be available in two trim levels: Pure and Luxury. The entry-level Pure trim comes equipped with a six-speaker audio system, six-way adjustable seats, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Luxury trim adds premium features such as a panoramic roof, wireless phone charging, and heated and ventilated front seats for added comfort and convenience.

With its stylish design, powerful engine, and advanced technology features, the Jaecoo 5 is poised to make a splash in the competitive crossover market. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model from Jaecoo.
