BYD, a leading new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, has recently announced a significant milestone in its intelligent parking feature. The company’s intelligent parking system has achieved L4 capabilities, marking a breakthrough in autonomous parking technology. In a bold move, BYD has committed to taking full responsibility for any losses incurred by users in China as a result of using this feature.

This commitment applies to all vehicles equipped with BYD’s advanced God’s Eye intelligent driving system. By offering to cover any potential losses, BYD is demonstrating its unwavering confidence in the capabilities of its autonomous parking technology. The L4 capabilities mentioned by BYD adhere to internationally recognized standards, indicating scenarios where no human driver intervention is required under specific conditions, with the automaker assuming liability for any accidents.

The intelligent parking feature is a key component of BYD’s smart driving system, which encompasses urban navigation-assisted driving, highway navigation-assisted driving, and intelligent parking. BYD’s achievement of L4 intelligent parking capabilities positions it as a global leader in autonomous parking technology.

In a statement on Weibo, BYD affirmed its commitment to assuming full responsibility for the safety and losses of users in intelligent parking scenarios involving the God’s Eye system. This means that in the event of an accident while using the intelligent parking function, users can directly contact BYD’s after-sales service for resolution, bypassing the need to initiate an insurance claims process. Importantly, this initiative will not impact users’ insurance premiums for the following year.

BYD’s confidence in the God’s Eye system is underpinned by its extensive resources, including ownership of China’s largest smart driving vehicle cloud database, a team of skilled smart driving R&D engineers, and a robust NEV production system. With over 1 million vehicles equipped with the God’s Eye system, BYD’s commitment to user safety and satisfaction is evident.

Moreover, BYD has announced plans to launch a comprehensive OTA update for the God’s Eye system, encompassing numerous functions related to parking, driving, and safety. This initiative underscores BYD’s dedication to innovation and continual improvement in smart driving technology.

By assuming full responsibility for any potential losses resulting from the operation of intelligent vehicle functions, BYD distinguishes itself as a trailblazer in the automotive industry. This proactive approach to user safety and satisfaction sets a high standard for other automakers to follow.

In comparison, Xpeng previously announced a compensation program for users encountering accidents while using the Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP), albeit with certain conditions and a paid service requirement. The competitive landscape in smart driving technology continues to evolve, with BYD’s latest announcement signaling its commitment to excellence and user-centric innovation.
