ZF Expands E-Mobility Presence with New Plant in Shenyang, China

The main product of the Shenyang plant will be the NEV electric drive system, with core components based on ZF’s modular electric drive platform. This includes front and rear axle assemblies that integrate the motor, controller, and reducer. The modular design allows for power outputs ranging from 100kW to 300kW and offers flexibility in motor options based on customer needs.

The plant features innovative technologies such as hairpin winding for the electric motor to enhance power and torque density, while maintaining efficiency. The controller utilizes ZF’s High 2.0 SiC technology to support an 800V platform for improved safety and cost efficiency. The reducer design has been optimized for efficiency and NVH performance.

The opening of the Shenyang plant signifies a significant advancement in ZF’s e-mobility strategy, enabling the company to provide high-quality electric drive solutions to customers in China and globally. Production line transfers and equipment installations are ongoing, with a focus on preparing for mass production by 2025.

With the addition of the Shenyang facility, ZF now operates three e-mobility plants in China. The company recently expanded its operations with the second phase of ZF Electrified Powertrain Technologies (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., specializing in 800V electric drive axles and reducers. Additionally, ZF Electric Mobility Technologies (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. completed its new energy vehicle electric drive project, producing and testing electric motors, power electronics, and electric drive systems.
