Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has recently made significant expansions to its sales team in preparation for the launch of its upcoming ES8 large electric SUV. According to a Nio executive, in the past month, nearly 800 sales professionals with experience at top luxury car brands such as Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus, and Volvo have joined Nio’s sales team. Additionally, professionals from the real estate, insurance, and financial sectors have also joined the company and are currently undergoing intensive training.

The company’s head of user operations, Yang Bo, shared this exciting news on Weibo, welcoming sales talent from all industries to join Nio and its sub-brand Onvo. Yang expressed anticipation for the launch of Nio’s new ES8, but did not provide specific details about the vehicle. However, a photo of the third-generation ES8 was recently revealed, generating buzz among automotive enthusiasts.

Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li previously announced that the third-generation ES8 would be unveiled later this month and officially launched at Nio Day 2025 in September. Show cars of the new ES8 will be available at stores during a product and technology event in late August. The SUV is expected to debut on August 20, with showroom models accessible to customers on August 21.

The ES8, Nio’s first mass-produced model, is known for its luxury features and premium pricing, starting at RMB 498,000 ($69,380) including the battery pack. The upcoming ES8 follows the successful launches of the first and second generations in 2017 and 2022, respectively.

In preparation for the peak sales seasons in the third and fourth quarters, as well as the launch of the higher-end ES9 SUV next year, Nio has expanded its sales team and adjusted the timing of its annual Nio Day event to the fall. These strategic moves aim to enhance customer experience and drive sales growth for the company.
