Sinotruk, a Chinese truck-maker also known as China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, has recently formed a joint venture in Kazakhstan to produce heavy-duty trucks for the local market. This partnership with local company Saran Machinery Ltd will see the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in the city of Saran, located in the Karaganda region. The signing event for this agreement was attended by Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar.
The new facility, once fully operational, is expected to have the capacity to produce up to 10,000 vehicles annually and will employ around 1,000 workers. The focus will be on producing Howo-branded heavy-duty trucks and special vehicles for the local market. Sinotruk has announced plans to start shipping production equipment for the plant in October, starting with chassis and cabin production machinery, followed by body welding and paint shop equipment in the first half of 2026.
The joint venture aims to gradually increase the utilization of locally sourced raw materials and components, thereby strengthening the local supply chain and contributing to the development of the automotive industry in Kazakhstan.
