GAC Aion, the electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of GAC Group, has officially made its entry into the Vietnamese auto market by launching the Aion Y Plus and Aion ES models. The company recently opened its first showroom in Ho Chi Minh City on October 15 and delivered the vehicles to the first local owners.

The Aion Y Plus, an SUV model, is currently available in 13 versions in China with a price range starting from RMB 99,800 ($14,000) to RMB 189,800. On the other hand, the Aion ES is a model specifically designed for overseas markets and is not available in mainland China. In Vietnam, the Aion ES is priced at VND 788 million ($31,280) while the Aion Y Plus starts at VND 888 million.

GAC Aion’s showroom in Vietnam is strategically located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, offering various services including product experience, after-sales support, and charging facilities. The company has also established partnerships with most charging service providers in Vietnam to ensure easy access to charging facilities for consumers. Moreover, GAC Aion plans to equip all its sales outlets in Vietnam with DC and AC charging stations to enhance the overall customer experience.

With a focus on targeting the low-end and mid-range markets in China, GAC Aion is now expanding its international presence in Southeast Asia. In line with its global expansion strategy, the company recently opened its first overseas plant in Thailand with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units in the first phase. The plant is set to produce various models including the second-generation Aion V, Aion Y Plus, and Hyper HT.

In addition to its entry into the Vietnamese market, GAC Aion also opened its flagship showroom in the Philippines recently and delivered vehicles to the first 10 local owners. Despite facing a 30.65 percent year-on-year decline in sales in September, the company remains optimistic about its international growth prospects. In the first nine months of the year, GAC Aion sold a total of 283,739 vehicles, marking a 19.16 percent year-on-year decrease in sales.

As GAC Aion continues to expand its presence in Southeast Asia and beyond, the company remains committed to providing innovative and high-quality electric vehicles to consumers worldwide.
