BYD launches 2 new models in Vietnam, bringing its local offerings to 5

BYD, a leading Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, has expanded its presence in Vietnam by launching two new models – the Han EV sedan and the M6 electric MPV. This move follows the successful introduction of the Dolphin, Seal, and Atto 3 models in July.

The Han EV, which serves as BYD’s flagship sedan, comes with a starting price of VND 1,489,000,000 ($58,930) in Vietnam. On the other hand, the M6 MPV is available at a starting price of VND 756,000,000 in the country.

Originally launched in July 2020, the Han has undergone several updates over the years. The latest 2025 version, currently sold in China, offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants. The Han EV starts at RMB 179,800 ($25,280) in China, while the hybrid version starts at RMB 165,800.

Unlike the Han, the M6 MPV is not available in the Chinese market. The electric version of the M6 was reintroduced in July 2010 as the company’s first MPV model, but it was later discontinued. However, BYD revived the model by launching an all-electric version in Indonesia in July and in Thailand in September.

In Vietnam, BYD initially introduced three models – the Dolphin, Seal, and Atto 3 – on July 18. These models were well-received in the market, prompting the company to expand its offerings with the Han EV and M6 MPV.

It’s worth noting that BYD does not have a manufacturing facility in Vietnam, so all its models are imported into the country. Despite this, the company has seen significant success in the region, with record sales of 419,426 NEVs in September alone.

Overall, BYD’s expansion into Vietnam with the launch of the Han EV and M6 MPV is a strategic move to capitalize on the growing demand for electric vehicles in the Southeast Asian market. With its diverse range of models and competitive pricing, BYD is well-positioned to establish a strong presence in Vietnam’s rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
