Xiaomi EV, the car-making arm of Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, is set to unveil the production version of the SU7 Ultra on October 29, following the successful prototype launch earlier this year. The SU7 Ultra prototype, which boasts an impressive 1,548 horsepower, was first revealed in July, with Xiaomi announcing that the official production version would be launched in the first half of 2025.
The production version of the SU7 Ultra will be showcased at an event on October 29, starting at 7 pm Beijing time. Xiaomi EV has also opened reservations for the model, allowing interested customers to secure their spot for this high-performance electric sedan.
In addition to the SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi will also unveil the Xiaomi 15 series smartphones and HyperOS 2 system at the event, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation across various product lines.
The original SU7 electric sedan was launched by Xiaomi on March 28, with three variants – Standard, Pro, and Max – offered at different price points. The SU7 Ultra prototype, as unveiled by Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, was designed for performance and track capabilities, building on the foundation of the original SU7 model.
Powered by Xiaomi’s V8s motor and featuring a cutting-edge battery pack from CATL, the SU7 Ultra prototype demonstrated exceptional performance metrics, including a 0-100 km/h sprint in 1.97 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. Despite its high-performance capabilities, Xiaomi aimed to keep the production version of the SU7 Ultra reasonably priced, making it accessible to a wider range of customers.
With deliveries of the SU7 model exceeding 10,000 units for four consecutive months, Xiaomi EV has set ambitious targets for the future, aiming to produce and deliver over 20,000 vehicles in October alone. The success of the SU7 model has earned praise from industry leaders, with Ford CEO Jim Farley expressing admiration for the vehicle’s performance and design.
Looking ahead, Xiaomi EV is on track to meet its full-year delivery target of 100,000 units ahead of schedule, underscoring the strong demand for its electric vehicles. As the company prepares to unveil the production version of the SU7 Ultra, enthusiasts and prospective buyers can look forward to experiencing the cutting-edge technology and performance that Xiaomi EV has to offer in the electric vehicle market.
