Luxeed R7 hits 30,000 orders in first month as Chery-Huawei’s first electric SUV

The Luxeed R7, a collaboration between Chery and Huawei under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), has seen tremendous success in the market since its launch. Within just 33 days, the R7 has amassed over 30,000 non-refundable orders, showcasing the high demand for this electric coupe SUV. This vehicle is the first of its kind from HIMA and the second release from Luxeed, following the S7 sedan. The initial response was overwhelming, with over 6,000 orders placed within the first 24 hours and surpassing 20,000 orders by the two-week mark.

The R7 boasts a spacious coupe-style SUV design, measuring 4,956 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width, and 1,634 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. It features a unique “One-Box” design with a 192-line lidar on the roof, available in six color options. The vehicle’s aerodynamics are impressive, with a drag coefficient of 0.219, making it one of the most aerodynamic SUVs on the market. The R7 comes in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) models, with a powerful motor ranging from 215 kW to 365 kW, allowing for an acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. With an 800V platform, the R7 can recharge for a 400 km range in just 15 minutes.

The interior of the R7 is equally impressive, featuring Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4, a 12.3-inch driver display, a 15.6-inch central control screen, and wireless charging capabilities. The cargo space offers 837 liters, expandable to 2,130 liters with the rear seats folded. Additionally, there is a front trunk with an additional 52 liters of storage space, accessible with a simple double tap on the hood when parked.

The R7 is available in different versions, with the Pro model offering a range of up to 667 km, while the Max and Ultra versions, equipped with a 100 kWh battery, provide ranges of 802 km and 736 km respectively, as per CLTC standards. The vehicle is built on the TuLing platform, incorporating intelligent vehicle state perception (iVSE) and driving assistance features to adapt to various road conditions.

The R7 also includes variable damping and air suspensions, a double-wishbone front, and a multi-link rear suspension. Its adaptive downhill cruise control and energy recuperation systems help reduce brake usage, with braking intervention reportedly lower than that required by competitors like the Tesla Model Y and BMW X6. Deliveries of the Max and Ultra trims have already begun, with the Pro model set to be released on November 15.

Overall, the Luxeed R7 represents a significant milestone in the electric vehicle market, combining cutting-edge technology, impressive performance, and luxurious design in a single package.
