BMW Group has officially started series production of the new BMW M5 Touring at its Dingolfing facility in Germany. This comes four months after the BMW M5 Sedan began production on the same line.
The standout feature of the new M5 Touring is its M HYBRID drive train, which combines a high-revving V8 engine with an e-drive system. This setup delivers an impressive peak performance of 535kW/727hp and a maximum torque of 1,000Nm.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the BMW M5 Touring boasts a combined consumption of 2.0 l/100km and 30.7kWh/100 km, with CO2 emissions rated at 46g/km. When running on a discharged battery, the fuel consumption is 10.9 l/100km, placing it in CO2 emissions class B when weighted and class G with a discharged battery.
The addition of the BMW M5 Touring to the Dingolfing plant’s production lineup further solidifies the location’s role in manufacturing BMW M high-performance vehicles. This model is the seventh M model to be produced at the facility, accounting for approximately 6% of the plant’s total output.
Plant Director Christoph Schroder expressed excitement about the completion of the BMW 5 Series family ‘made in Dingolfing’ with the introduction of the BMW M5 Touring. He emphasized the diverse range of drive technologies and body variants now available to customers worldwide.
In addition to the M5 Touring, the Dingolfing plant also produces the BMW M4 Coupe and Convertible, the BMW M8 Coupe, Convertible, Gran Coupe, and the BMW M5 Sedan.
BMW Group has also recently started production of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe at the Leipzig plant. This model is set to launch in March 2025 and will join the production lineup that includes the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, and MINI Countryman.
Overall, BMW Group’s commitment to producing high-performance vehicles with cutting-edge technologies continues to drive innovation and excellence in the automotive industry. The BMW M5 Touring exemplifies this dedication to delivering exceptional driving experiences while maintaining practicality for daily use and travel.
