Xpeng Launches the P7+ with New AI Hawk System

On October 7, Xpeng introduced the P7+, the first car to feature the company’s new AI Hawk system. This innovative system ditches Lidar in favor of a Tesla-like vision approach for urban smart driving. With the AI Hawk system, Xpeng is able to offer the same level of self-driving capabilities across all versions of the P7+. The starting price for the Xpeng P7+ is 186,800 yuan (26,100 USD).

Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng described the P7+ as a blend of sedan stance, SUV practicality, and MPV comfort.

Xpeng P7+

The Xpeng P7+ is available in three versions, ranging from 186,800 to 218,800 yuan (26,100 – 30,600 USD):

Xpeng P7+ Long Range Max 186,800 yuan (26,100 USD)
Xpeng P7+ Ultra Long Range Max 198,800 yuan (27,750 USD)
Xpeng P7+ Limited Edition Max 218,800 yuan (30,600 USD)

The top-trim level of the Xpeng P7+ is the Limited Max edition, featuring 20-inch rims, a 76.3 kWh battery, and a zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 5.9 seconds. Only 500 units of this version will be produced. In comparison, the Tesla Model 3 starts at 231,900 yuan (32,400 USD) in China.

The P7+ boasts a unique design, combining elements of a sedan, liftback, and hatchback. It features striking twin folds on the hood and a distinctive double-end rear design. The car is the second longest in Xpeng’s lineup, with only the X9 MPV being larger.

Xpeng P7+ Exterior

With dimensions of 5056mm (length), 1937mm (width), and 1512mm (height), along with a wheelbase of 3000mm, the Xpeng P7+ offers ample interior space. It is targeted at the 28-36 age group of tech-savvy social elites.

At launch, the P7+ is offered as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle with a choice of two electric motors. Lower-powered versions feature a 180 kW motor, while more powerful versions come with a 230 kW motor. The car is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries, offering a range of up to 710 km.

The P7+ is designed for efficiency, boasting a drag coefficient of Cd 0.206 and utilizing an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform. Inside, the car features a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, and an array of advanced technology including the AI Tianxian system.

The AI Hawk system in the P7+ utilizes two Nvidia Orin X chips for self-driving capabilities, leveraging data from multiple cameras, radars, and sensors to provide a high level of autonomy. Pre-sales of the Xpeng P7+ saw a staggering 30,000 orders in less than 2 hours.

With its cutting-edge technology, sleek design, and impressive performance, the Xpeng P7+ is set to redefine the electric vehicle market.
