Experience the New Skoda Octavia vRS: A Closer Look Inside
When it comes to major changes in the Skoda Octavia vRS, the interior is where you’ll find the most significant updates. The focal point is the new 13.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, which is now available as a cost option on the standard Octavia. This upgrade brings a whole new level of quality of life to the car, replacing the outdated display of its predecessor and giving the interior a more premium feel.
The new touchscreen is responsive and clear, offering quick tabs for main functions like media and maps. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay work seamlessly, and accessing infotainment controls while using these features is a breeze. While the Smart Dial controls from other Skoda models are missing, the climate settings can still be easily adjusted through the touchscreen.
In addition to the upgraded infotainment system, the facelifted Octavia vRS now features a host of USB-C ports and a wireless smartphone charging pad with cooling. The interior design includes racy cues, with warm Alcantara and red stitching adding a touch of sportiness. The multifunction steering wheel is user-friendly, with volume rollers and physical buttons that are easy to navigate.
One of the standout features of the Octavia vRS is its spacious cabin. Despite being only slightly larger than its predecessor, the shift-by-wire gear selector has freed up space on the transmission tunnel, making the interior feel less cluttered. The organic shapes of the panels contribute to a more open and soothing atmosphere inside the car.
While the black headlining and aluminum pedals give the vRS a sporty look, some exposed plastic surfaces and flimsy plastic-chrome controls detract from the overall premium feel that Skoda is aiming for. However, the thuggishly bolstered modular sports seats are comfortable for long journeys, and the seating position is excellent.
Despite its sporty appearance, the Octavia vRS remains a practical family car with a class-leading boot, ample legroom for rear passengers, and generous equipment. The vRS badges may hint at performance, but underneath it all, the Octavia is still a well-rounded family car that offers both style and functionality.
